Ultimate Non-Toy Montessori Gifts for Your Home

As a Montessori parent, it is a big goal of mine to find purposeful and developmentally appropriate toys, activities, and materials for my children in our home. But what do you do when you can’t imagine bringing another toy into your home? Then it is time to turn to those practical gifts that have a greater purpose or offer a new experience to our child. Here are some practical non-toy Montessori-friendly gifts for kids of any age, starting with the sweet babies. This list is also a great resource to come back to as you think of ways to prepare your home to meet the needs of your child.

Babies

Here are my top Montessori baby items that are not toys. Babies don’t need much, but there are a few things we can have and prepare a Movement area for their mobiles and some feeding items when they start into solid foods.

Care of the Environment

Taking care of the environment is practical and so meaningful for a child, even toddlers! Here are some items we keep around our house to allow involvement in the daily responsibilities around the home.

Self-Care

Self-care is an opportunity for independence and building autonomy in your home. You can prepare a self-care area in your child’s bedroom or in the bathroom, check out this blog post for more details on how to do that!

Additional Montessori Items for your Home

These are on my “someday” list of non-toy Montessori gifts to give. Practical activities like grinding coffee, smashing herbs with a mortar and pestle, and making orange juice would be great activities to have going on in your home.
