2 Year Old Montessori Christmas Gift List
When Christmas arrives my twin boys will be newly 2 years old! There have been a few items I have wanted to add to our Montessori home but just haven’t been able to. Here is my Christmas gift list with 10 things I would love to get or have my boys receive as gifts this year.
Art Easel
I am looking to get an art easel for the boys. I want them to have a larger vertical surface for activities like painting and coloring. To go along with the art easel, it would be great to have some specific paint cups for them to handle. I have also been wanting to try these chunky paint sticks! These 3 things would be a great addition to our art collection and would provide many opportunities for purposeful activity.
Playdough Rollers
Our twins have been loving their Montessori playdough kits! They are so fun to change up seasonally and I’ve been slowly adding some new tools for them to use. These different patterned wooden rolling pins would be a great stocking stuffer! I also like these silicone-patterned rollers.
Strider Bike
The twins have had balance bikes for some time now and are getting ready for the next step, a strider bike! I will probably look to buy this second-hand from Facebook Marketplace since I will likely need to buy two of them. However, I may make it a spring gift becasue they won’t get many opportunities to ride it in the winter here in Minnesota.
Hand Vacuum
A handheld vacuum is one of those items I would have liked to have in my home for some time now. The boys are at the perfect age to use a handheld vacuum for cleaning up messes and helping around the house. They love all practical life things around the house and I am sure this will be a favorite item!

Snow Shovel
We live in Minnesota where there is a lot of snow. Sometimes that really can be A LOT of snow. We have many of the other child-size tools like brooms, rakes, and dirt shovels but now we need some snow shovels. This is another item I will likely need to buy 2 of.
Twist and Sort Puzzle
I have been eyeing this twist-and-sort puzzle for some time now but knew the boys wouldn’t quite be ready for it. Now it makes a perfect Christmas gift. Essentially you have four separate puzzles, which is perfect! I can set two of the puzzles out and they will be able to work in parallel with one another. It is challenging and will require concentration and problem-solving skills.

Color Sorting Toy
This color sorting toy is very Montessori, beautiful, and durable. I have a few other toys from this brand and I have been very impressed with the quality! I love the simplicity of the material and could see this be a very engaging and purposeful activity for a young toddler. Toddlers have such a strong sense of order and a color-sorting toy would definately appeal to their characteristics.
Drum
A drum is another item I would have loved to have had earlier on, but it is just now making it onto a gift list! Both this wooden drum and this floor drum have been in my shopping cart for some time now. I think I will get the floor drum at this time and maybe in the future I will get the smaller wooden drum when another baby comes along.
Play Silks from Sarah’s Silks
I preemptively purchased an entire set of play silks from Sarah’s Silks when they went on sale late in the summer. I knew I wasn’t going to put out all 17 at once. Slowly I will gift them to the boys. I will add one to each of the boys’ stockings this year and likely use them to wrap up some of their birthday and Christmas gifts. They are some of the most beautiful play items I have seen. They are light and airy and can be used in countless ways. I love their open-ended qualities for dress-up, fort-making, and anything else their little minds can imagine!
Grimm’s Wooden Rainbow
I would love to invest and get this beautiful wooden stacking rainbow, however, it may not be in the budget this year. I will keep it on my list for future years!
Phew! I think that is all I have on their list for this year. Between a birthday in November and Christmas, I’m sure many of these things will be gifted, but probably not all of them. If family members are looking for ideas, I will share some of these with them as well. If you are looking for stocking stuffers for your toddler, check out this blog post!
