Best High Chair for Twins Review: Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair

Are you wondering what high chair to get? We have loved our Stokke Tripp Trapp chair for all the stages of infancy! It doesn’t stop there, these chairs will continue to meet the needs of our children for years and years to come which is why I am such a fan of them.

The investment in not just one, but two Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair’s for our twins was the right choice! We have been using them every day since they were newborns practically. They have a small footprint, which is important in our home. The Tripp Trapp chairs are sturdy, and beautiful and have created a wonderful feeding experience for our twins. They come right up to our table for meal times, which is so perfect. I will share with you my honest review of the Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair and why I am glad we have chosen to use them with our twins!

A chair that will grow with your child

The Tripp Trapp chair will stay with your family for a long time. Beginning in infancy with the newborn attachment, which was amazing with twin babies and can continue to be used through adulthood if you want! 

Stokke Tripp Trapp vs. a Traditional High Chair

The Tripp Trapp chair has a simple design and the best part is there are no little cracks or crevices where food gets stuck. Just smooth, easy-to-wipe surfaces. Alternatively, a traditional high chair tends to have lots of those little, difficult-to-clean areas. The Tripp Trapp Chair doesn’t take up a lot of space like a regular high chair does. To my surprise, when we unboxed our chairs they took up such little floor space!

How Long can you use the Stokke Tripp Trap Chair?

The Tripp Trapp Chair is intended for use through adulthood if you so desire. You sure won’t find that claim with any other infant high chair! This chair is a good option if you are looking to purchase one chair for your child. It has the feel of a regular chair and is designed to grow with your child. You can move both the seat and the footplate to different heights to create the most comfortable experience for your child.

If you are looking to avoid extra baby items early on, I found by having the newborn attachment for our chairs, there was no need to get swings or other large baby items. It was great to have the newborn attachment to have a place to set my twins down while I was getting some things done in the kitchen. The attachment can be in two different positions: more horizontal and then tipped forward and down slightly. It also has a 5-point harness.

Does it have a removable tray? 

Yes! There is a detachable tray that you can purchase. I opted to not get the tray for our twins just becuase I wanted the experience of having them eat right up at the dining table with us when they started eating solid foods.

Does it have a five-point harness? 

Yes! The Tripp Trapp chair has a 5-point harness. The harness is secured to the baby seat that attaches to the Tripp Trapp chair. When your child no longer needs the baby seat, it is easily removed, within seconds, and then you will just have a beautiful chair that your child can get in and out of indepedently.

The five-point safety harness is adjustable to meet the size needs of your baby. I will say, the one thing that has been the most challenging is adjusting the straps on the 5-point harness. When doing this, you need to let out some of the slack and then make it the desired length.

You can spot-clean the buckle with a damp rag or remove that part of the baby seat to clean it over by your sink. Using the safety straps will ensure your child’s safety when in their feeding chair. 

How long will the Stokke Tripp Trapp chair last? 

The Tripp Trapp Chair has a 7-year extended warranty and a weight limit of 242 pounds! The chair is made of quality and durable material, making it one of the best high chairs. The overall design is a great option. You can store the chair, just disassemble it to store it for down the road. 

The reason this chair can be used for so long is you can adjust how the seat functions by lowering the seat itself and the footrest. This allows for the best positioning for a child. You will want your child’s feet resting firmly on the footrest, especially as new eaters.

Is it easy to clean? 

This is probably my favorite part about this chair. It cleans up so easily. The wood surfaces are so easy to wipe down. I did not get the seat cushions, because that seemed like one more thing to clean and wash in the washing machine. However, if you want to have the seat cover for added comfort and aesthetics, it appears very easy to remove to clean. The best highchairs are easy to clean and durable. 

Can you store the Tripp Trapp chair easily? 

For daily storage, we keep our Tripp Trapp chairs right in our kitchen for easy access. If you want to be able to store long term, you can disassemble the high chair to take up even less space. You can keep the chair at the kitchen or dining room table. Or just off to the side! Whatever makes the most sense in your space. 

Can you use it with a newborn? 

You can use the Tripp Trapp chair with a newborn by using the newborn attachment. This attachment goes right onto the chair and brings your baby up to table or hip height. I loved this for having my twins with me in the kitchen while I was making a meal or doing the dishes. They were able to be with me and see me while also being comfortable in their cozy newborn seat. I loved having them sit with us at the dining room table before they were sitting up in their high chair on their own. They are a good high chair for twin parents and I would recommend them to everyone! 

Does the Tripp Trapp chair work with older babies? 

Yes, the Tripp Trapp Chair can be used with newborns by using the newborn attachment, with older infants by using the baby seat and then the chair continues to grow with your child as they move into needing more of a toddler chair. The Tripp Trapp Chair supports their independence as they climb up into the chair and right up to the dinner table. Both the seat height and the footrest are adjustable to meet the size needs of your child. This feature is really important, as we want children to have their feet planted and resting on a firm surface when eating to avoid the risk of choking. The adjustable height makes this chair work for babies and children of all ages, which makes it a cost-effective investment!

Benefits of the Tripp Trapp High Chair 

There are so many benefits of the Tripp Trapp high chair, I think this is a great high chair for any child. One thing I noticed about it compared to a traditional high chair is how it supports the baby to sit up with good posture. I had one of my sons in a different high chair at my mom’s house and he was so slouched back into the high chair that it didn’t even seem all that safe for him to be eating in the chair. I have found the Tripp Trapp chair to be a good choice if you are going to be doing baby-led weaning. It is easy to clean, brings the baby right up to the table to eat, and supports the ideal positioning for a new and beginning eater.
